The Museum/Research Library of the History of Delaware County
Welcome to the Delaware County Historical Society’s Museum and Research Library. For more the 115 years, it has been the goal of the Delaware County Historical Society to preserve and collect Delaware County history.
Our building was a former bank built in 1907, and is now the permanent home of the society’s collections. It is also home to the DCHS museum, which has about four exhibits per year.
The research library contains an extensive collection of Bible, birth, burial, census, church, court, genealogical, land and marriage records, as well as maps, newspapers, telephone books, city directories, yearbooks and much more.
The Ethel Sergeant Clark Smith Education Center, located on the second floor of the building, is used for lectures and an interactive program for children. Our facility is also part of Chester City Historic Tour.
